The Ministry of Education says steps are being taken at present, to eradicate the spread of drugs among school children.
Another discussion was held today (20) under the patronage of subject Minister Susil Premajayantha and officials of the Education Ministry and related institutions.
Attention was mainly directed at measures that should be taken to prevent the spread of drugs in schools.
A decision was also reached to educate principals of circulars that have been issued related to making school premises a tobacco, alcohol and other drug free zone.
It was also decided to establish drug prevention committees at schools, and regional and provincial levels and to issue directives on measures that should be taken to eliminate drugs.
