COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Experts have emphasized the importance of consuming enough fluid each day in order to stay hydrated during the current climate.
Director of the Health Promotion Bureau Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said they recommend an individual must consume at least 200mm of water every half hour during the day.
Dr. Batuwanthudawa noted that between 9am and 4pm daily, people should drink fluid as much as possible and avoid unnecessary and strenuous outdoor activities.
Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa also urged the public not to wait for thirst to indicate dehydration and consume water ahead of the thirst.
Experts also say milk, fruit juice, cordial, vegetable juice, soup, tea, soft drink, custard, jelly, ice cream and hot chocolate are other alternatives that can be consumed throughout the day to stay hydrated.
