Specialist at the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Harsha Sathischandra says coronavirus patients will only be kept at home if they can isolate.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Dr. Sathischandra said if a patient is sharing a room with several individuals then the patient will be admitted to a hospital for treatment.
He said they acknowledge the risk of others at home contracting the virus when treating COVID-patients at home.
Dr. Sathischandra said this treatment process will apply to individuals at residences with multiple rooms where the patient can isolate in a separate room.
He said the Medical Officer of Health will make a decision on how to proceed as soon as details of the patient re provided as the MOH will be able gauge an understanding on living arrangements.
