The Railway Station Masters Association has decided to postpone the trade union action which was scheduled to begin from midnight today, until 10am tomorrow.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Chairman of the Association Sumedha Somaratne said another discussion will be held tomorrow.
Somaratne said however trade union action of suspending the issuance of train tickets and refraining from accepting and transporting parcels will continue.
He added the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways must bear the responsibility of the losses incurred by Sri Lanka Railways.
He said the State Minister of Transport informed them a fair solution will be provided tomorrow.
He said they will continue their trade union action depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s discussion, with the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways.
Somaratne said they expect to provide uninterrupted transportation services considering the passengers adding however unfortunately they will have to disregard the inconveniences caused to the public if solutions are not provided.
He said they expect the General Manager will not force the union to engage in the trade union action inconveniencing the public, adding however if so the General Manager must bear responsibility.
