The Station Masters’ Association has expressed its displeasure over train cancellations due to arbitrary decisions.
The Association said commuters are inconvenienced owing to the actions of several senior officials.
Speaking at a media briefing today, President of the Association Sumedha Somaratne said if this situation continues, trade union action will be initiated.
Somaratne said they engaged in trade union action recently due to repeated train cancellations recently.
He said the Colombo-Badulla night mail train resumed operations recently adding however it was once again suspended after several days.
The President of the Association urged the government to probe the sudden cancellation of office trains claiming there is a shortage of ticket issuers and drivers.
He said they will not hesitate to resort to trade union action if passengers and railway employees are put at risk and inconvenienced due to such actions.
