The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, and Provincial Councils has issued a circular pertaining to a relief programme during the coronavirus pandemic, to account for the leave obtained by state workers.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena as the subject Minister issued the circular.
The circular said the coronavirus impacted livelihoods across the world, and also impacted the state sector.
In order to continue the public service, several steps were taken in the state sector by bringing in only essential state employees to workplaces, while steps were also taken to set up procedures to work from home, while certain institutions completely closed while expectant women and lactating mothers were allowed to remain home.
The circular states that as services at state institutions have returned to normal, steps have been taken to maintain the usual methods of enforcing and calculating leave of employees.
