The travel ban was lifted temporally by Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe considering a request made by the Counsel who represented State Minister Gamage in court today.
When the case related to State Minister Diana Gamage’s passport, National Identity Card, and birth certificate was taken up today, President’s Counsel Sarath Jayamanne informed Court that his client is required to travel overseas between the 21st and 23rd of December.
Considering the request, Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe lifted the travel ban for five days and directed the Controller-General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration to take all necessary measures in this regard.
Court had imposed a travel ban on State Minister Diana Gamage in connection with a magisterial inquiry into a complaint that she had obtained a Sri Lankan passport after furnishing false information to the Controller-General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
A writ petition has also been filed before the Court of Appeal separately calling for State Minister Diana Gamage to be stripped of her Parliamentary seat by activist Oshala Herath on the 15th of November.
