The Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva says they are hoping to fully vaccinate all eligible Sri Lankans against COVID-19 by mid September.
Speaking to media after attending an event in Jaffna today, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva urged the public to obtain the vaccine and continue to comply with health guidelines.
The Army Commander also emphasised the importance of wearing a face mask and adhering to health guidelines when leaving outdoors.
Commenting on the vaccination drive, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said around 75 percent of eligible Sri Lankans have received at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19.
He said they are carrying out the vaccination drive at a pace in a bid to reduce the infection and death rates.
General Shavendra Silva noted that the Sri Lanka Army is currently operating a vaccination point at the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo and requested all eligible persons who require a vaccine to visit the centre and obtain it promptly.
