Sri Lanka today hit another grim COVID-19 milestone with infections and deaths rising rapidly during the past few days.
Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll surpassed the 5,000-mark following the confirmation of another 98 casualties linked to the novel coronavirus.
The Department of Government Information said all 98 COVID-19 related deaths were recorded yesterday. 51 females and 47 males and were among the victims.
Of the female victims, 43 were over 60 years of age and eight were between 30 and 59 years of age.
35 of the male victims were over 60 years of age while 12 were between the ages of 30 and 59 years.
