(NewsRadio); Sri Lankan born Dr. Hareen De Silva is scheduled to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III at the Westminster Abbey in London today.

According to the guest list announced by the Buckingham Palace, Dr, Hareen De Silva will be among the community volunteers and key workers who will be part of the congregation at Westminster Abbey.

Dr. Hareen De Silva received a British Empire Medal for services to general practice during COVID-19.

The Palace said, “throughout the pandemic, he worked in various settings including NHS Nightingale, the Test and Trace service, and GP clinics in London.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Hareen De Silva said, “I am looking forward to being present in a historic event for this country”, he says. “To be witness to the ceremony itself and being able to tell my family and future generations what I have witnessed.”

Millions of people across the UK and beyond are also preparing to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III – a symbolic ceremony combining a religious service and pageantry.

It is being held at Westminster Abbey at 11:00 BST and the King, who will be crowned along with Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be the 40th reigning monarch crowned there since 1066.
