GALLE (NewsRadio); Sri Lanka will take on Ireland in the second and final Test match of series at the Galle International Cricket Stadium this morning.
The game is scheduled to get underway at 10am.
Sri Lanka will be looking to complete a series whitewash in Galle after comprehensively defeating the Irish by an innings and 280 runs in the opening game of the two-match exchange.
Sri Lanka will likely go into the game unchanged while the Irish management has indicated it will make two changes to the line-up that was steamrolled by the home team last week.
This will incidentally become 35-year-old Dimuth Karunaratne’s last game as Sri Lanka Test skipper, although selectors have yet to name his replacement.
With no obvious candidate to take up the job, Karunaratne’s tenure may likely to be extended according to some experts.
Meanwhile, there is a persistent threat of rain, and Sri Lankans cannot afford to miss chances in Galle in the second test, if they want to give Karunaratne a victorious send-off.
