Meanwhile, the highest number of tourist arrivals was recorded in March last year.

106,500 tourists arrived in March and then the numbers gradually reduced due to various reasons including the economic crisis, protests and being the off season for traditional travelers.

The number of tourists has picked up in the last few months and with the winter season in Europe.

The Ministry of Tourism informed NewsRadio that it has taken a number of steps to attract visitors especially travelers from Europe in the wintry months.

The tourism sector is gradually picking up following three difficult years due to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic and also the economic crisis.
