COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A 15-member Sri Lanka Test squad has been named for the first Test against Ireland to be played in Galle next week.
Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the squad for the final time during the series.
Seniors Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva have been named in the squad.
However there is no place for Pathum Nissanka, Oshada Fernando and Niroshan Dickwella.
Pacers Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara have also been rested for the Tests against Ireland.
Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dushan Hemantha and Milan Rathnayake have been included in the squad instead.
The Ireland National Cricket squad arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday for a two-match Test series.
The Sri Lanka-Ireland series will be limited to just two test matches.
Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement that the decision to play two test matches instead of one test match and two ODIs, as planned earlier, was taken mutually following discussions held between SLC and Cricket Ireland.
Accordingly, both games will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
The opening game of the series will get underway on the 16th of April.
The second and final game will also be played at the same venue from the 24th of April.
