Sri Lanka has ranked 79th in the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) 2022.
Global Knolwedge Index noted that at 79th, Sri Lanka is a moderate performer in terms of its knowledge infrastructure.
Sri Lanka ranks 79th out of 132 countries in the Global Knowledge Index 2022 and 16th out of the 28 countries with high human development.
The index highlighted several strengths of Sri Lanka including poverty headcount ratio (% population), net enrolment rate in lower secondary education, labour force participation rate with short-cycle tertiary education, citable documents per R&D personnel in higher education and labour force participation rate with advanced education.
Meanwhile, several areas of improvemet were also recorded, including government expenditure on vocational education (%), government expenditure on primary education (% GDP), female-to-male ratio in parliament, building quality control and government funding per secondary student (% GDP per capita).
The index assesses 132 countries in areas such as education, innovation, knowledge, the economy, technology and research and development.
It helps countries identify sectors in need of development and provides data that can inform how communities can grow.
