Parliamentarian SM Marikkar says Sri Lanka is on the brink of losing the GSP+ trade concession.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday the MP said the country will face serious ramifications if the GSP+ concession is withdrawn.
He said a delegation of the European Union is due to visit Sri Lanka on the 27th of September adding that a proposal on removing the GSP+ has already been suggested.
The MP charged that Basil Rajapaska was named the Minister of Finance to address issues that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was unable to, adding that the prices of goods however continued to increase, exports reduced, dollar reserves depleted and Sri Lanka is becoming a beggars paradise.
MP Marikkar said due to Basil Rajapaksa’s inefficiencies, Ajith Nivard Cabraal was appointed the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, adding that he is a bigger virus than the coronavirus to the country’s economy.
