(NewsRadio); Sri Lanka Legends defeated West Indies Legends by 14 runs in the second Road Safety World Series semi-final in Raipur last evening.
Chasing a mammoth 173-run target to qualify for the finals of the tournament with India, the Windies finished on 158/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
39-year-old Narsingh Deonarine threatened to take the game away from the Lankans only for Nuwan Kulasekara to remove the left-hander in the 18th over.
Deonarine scored 63 off 39 balls which included four sixes.
For the Lankans, Kulasekara and Sanath Jayasuriya picked up two wickets apiece.
Sri Lanka batting first went onto make a respectable 172/9 in 20 overs. Ishan Jayaratne top scored with 31 while Jayasuriya and Jeevan Mendis chipped in with 20s.
Devendra Bishoo and Krishmar Santokie picked up two wickets apiece for the West Indies Legends.
India Legends beat Australia by 5 wickets in the first semi-finals.
Sri Lanka Legends will take on India Legends in the finals of the 2022 Road Safety World Series in Raipur 7.30pm today.
