COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Sri Lanka has emphasized the importance of wide stakeholder support to secure funding from the International Monetary Fund.
The matter was reiterated during a briefing between Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Nandalal Weerasinghe, Secretary to the Treasury Mahinda Siriwardana, Senior Advisor to the President RHS Samaratunga an Head of Missions of Paris Club member nations along with the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo.
Minister Ali Sabry said during the meeting, the Sri Lankan side updated the diplomats of the steps taken to stabilize the Sri Lankan economy and the progress the country has made under the IMF programme.
Foreign Minister Sabry added that they also emphasized the importance of wide stakeholder support at this crucial juncture for an expedited response from the IMF on funding and support.
