Yupun Abeykoon bettered his own National and South Asian Record in the 100m with a time of 10.06 seconds during a German athletics meet.
The 28-year-old set the record while competing at the Anhalt Meeting in Dessau, Germany.
Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa finished in the event second after clocking 10.14 seconds while Joris van Gool of the Netherlands was third with a timing of 10.28 seconds.
Last week, Yupun Abeykoon set a new National and South Asian record in the 200m by clocking 20.37 seconds during an athletics meet in Italy.
Abeykoon established the new record while competing at the International Athletics Castiglione Meeting in Grosseto.
He bettered the national record set by Vinoj Suranjaya Silva who ran the 200m event at the National Trials in April 2018 in 20.68s.
Yupun Abeykoon now holds both the National and South Asian records in 100m and 200m events.
