Captain of the Sri Lanka white-ball teams Dasun Shanaka says they are determined to win the series against Australia for the fans and the Sri Lankan public.
Speaking during the pre-series press conference in Colombo today, Shanaka said they have a balanced team who can challenge the Australian unit.
Shanaka said due injuries and the COVID-19 crisis, the team’s composition was affected during the recently concluded series against India and Australia.
He said he has power hitters like Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis who are expected to deliver against the Australian bowlers.
Shanaka also confirmed that Kusal Mendis will remain the front-line keeper in both T20 and ODI teams.
Commenting on the exclusion of seniors such as Angelo Mathews from the ODI set-up, Dasun Shanaka said although he would like to receive the services of world-class players, such decisions are made by the national selectors.
