Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by a mammoth 246 runs in the second Test match to square the two-match series 1-1 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium this afternoon.

Chasing an improbable 508-run target, Pakistanis were bundled out for 261 in their second innings.

Skipper Babar Azam top scored with 81 while opener Imam-ul-Haq hit 49 runs for the visitors.

Pakistan started the day on 89/1 but lasted less than 50 overs before the Sri Lankans spinners.

For Sri Lanka, Prabath Jayasuriya excelled once again with figures of 5/117 while Ramesh Mendis finished with 4/101.

Sri Lanka yesterday declared their second innings on 360/8 setting a mammoth 508-run target for Pakistan to win the game.

In their first innings, the Lankans posted 378 after winning the toss.

Pakistan beat the Lankans by 4 wickets in the opening game of the series at the same venue.

Jayasuriya who took 17 wickets in the two games was adjudged the man-of-the-series.
