The 2021 Lanka Premier League will commence on the 5th of December at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, with the inaugural game scheduled to be played between Galle and Jaffna.
Sri Lanka Cricket said the first round of the tournament, that includes 20 games, will be played at the R Premadasa, before the tournament moves to Hambantota for the final round games.
The final will be worked off on the 23rd of December at Hambantota, whilst the 24th has been named as a ‘Reserve Day’.
The Lanka Premier League, Sri Lanka’s topmost domestic tournament, with international participation, will consist of 24 games and will see the participation of topmost domestic and international cricketers.
The final round games will see the top two teams in the points table playing the first qualifier, whilst the 3rd and 4th placed teams will face off in the ‘eliminator.’
The winner of qualifier 1 will progress to the finals, whilst the losing side will play against the winner of the ‘eliminator’ in qualifier 2, with the winner of the game moving to the finals.
