South Africa posted a respectable 163/5 in their allotted 20 overs against Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series in Colombo.
The South African openers gave the visitors a flying start after Skipper Keshav Maharaj on debut opted to bat first.
Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock combined to put 73 runs in 9.5 overs before the latter was dismissed for 36 off 32 balls.
Hendricks soon followed after making 38 in just 30 deliveries.
Aiden Markram provided some solidarity in the middle but was dismissed for 48 off 33 balls while attempting to force the pace.
David Miller chipped in with 26 off 15 deliveries.
For the home team, Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 2/23 while Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with a wicket apiece. at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
