Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has been sold for 107.5 million Indian Rupees to Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL 2022 Player Auction a short while ago.
All-rouder Hasaranga played for RCB during the last season as well. He only featured in two games for RCB.
Earlier, the IPL 2022 Player Auction was suspended after auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed to the floor mid-way during the event in Bengaluru.
Auctioneer Edmeades suddenly collapsed on the floor when the bidding war on for all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.
The organizers stopped the event immediately due to the health emergency.
During the bidding war for Hasaranga, auctioneer Edmeades fell on the ground abruptly. Based on the available visuals, it seemed that the Auctioneer was unconscious when lying on the floor.
Latest reports say Auctioneer Edmeades is fine and receiving treatment.
Auctioneer Charu Sharma resumed the 2022 IPL Auction after Hugh Edmeades, the IPL auctioneer, collapsed midway during the auction.
Hugh Edmeades was appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in 2018 to conduct the IPL auctions.
He replaced the previous auctioneer Richard Madley and has been responsible for conducting the mega event each year ever since.
In the IPL auction 2022, 370 Indian players have registered for the event along with 220 overseas players.
