Bangladesh spin bowling coach Rangana Herath has tested positive for COVID-19 in New Zealand.
According to foreign media reports, he is touring with the Tigers for a two-match series against New Zealand, starting from the 1st of January.
Multiple sources from the Bangladesh team and BCB have confirmed the development. However, sources said Herath is doing well and has no complications.
The Bangladesh team underwent three COVID-19 tests after arriving in New Zealand, and in the first two tests, all players and members of the coaching staff returned negative.
But in the latest test, Hearth retuned a positive result.
Bangladesh team was supposed to maintain a 14-day in-room quarantine period, but the New Zealand authority cut it down to three days.
The first Test of the series will take place on January 1, and the second and final Test of the series will be played from January 9.
There is no limited-over match in this series.
