An extensive investigation has been launched pertaining to the Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation and Sri Lanka Team Manager Donald Indrawansa, who was reported missing during the Wrestling World Championships in Oslo, Norway.
Director General of the Sports Development Authority Amal Edirisooriya said a complaint has been lodged with the Special Investigation Unit established on the provisions of the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act.
The International Wrestling Federation and the Norway Wrestling Federation have been informed in this regard, while the Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation has also lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department.
Legal action will be taken against Indrawansa after determining whether the Team Manager had also taken the money provided for the team.
Edirisooriya further said as relevant persons enter an agreement for a bail bond of Rs.1 million when travelling overseas, attention has also been directed towards taking legal action for violating the conditions of the bail bond.
