At stumps on Day Four, the visitors were on 222/3, chasing a 342-run target. Abdullah Shafique was unbeaten on 112 while Mohammad Rizwan was on 7. Babar Azam was the last batsman to be dismissed yesterday for 55.
Shafique and Azam put on 101 for the third wicket to turn the game in favour of Pakistan.
Prabath Jayasuriya picked up two wickets while Ramesh Mendis got the other scalp in the Pakistani second innings.
Sri Lanka posted 337 in their second innings yesterday and was expected to trouble the Pakistani batters on a spin-friendly surface.
