Former skipper Angelo Mathews who played a memorable innings missed out on his second double century in Test cricket today.
He was the last man to fall in the innings for 199 runs off a Nayeem Hasan delivery.
Mathews hit 19 boundaries and six in his marathon innings.
He was ably supported by Dinesh Chandimal who scored 66 runs.
The pair put on 133 runs for the fifth wicket.
Kusal Mendis yesterday scored 54 runs after skipper Dimuth Karunaratne opted to bat first.
For Bangladesh, Hasan finished with figures of 6/105 while Shakib Al Hasan had 3/60.
