Table toppers Jaffna Kings thrashed Dambulla Giants by 7 wickets in the 14th game of the 2021 Lanka Premier League at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo last evening.
After bundling out the Giants for 69, the Kings reached the target in 9.2 overs losing just three wickets.
Wanindu Hasaranga top scored with 37 off 18 deliveries while Avishka Fernando notched up 22 from 17 deliveries to guide the Kings home.
Imran Tahir picked up 2 for 21 for the Giants. Earlier after being sent into bat, Dambulla could not handle the tight line and length of Jaffna bowlers.
They lasted just 14.1 overs and posted 69 with Phil Salt scoring 23. Chaturanga de Silva finished with impressive figures of 4/16 while Maheesh Theekshana had 3/21.
The win helped Kings to consolidate their top spot in the points table while the Giants remain second and on course to qualify for play-offs.
Two more LPL games will be worked off today with Colombo Stars taking on Kandy Warriors at 3pm while in the match of the day, Dambulla will be in action with Galle Gladiators at 7.30pm at the same venue.
