Colombo Stars thrashed Kandy Warriors by 58 runs in the final qualifying round game of the 2021 Lanka Premier League tournament at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo last evening.

The Stars after scoring a mammoth 182/6 restricted the Warriors to 124 in 17 overs and qualified for the playoffs. Warriors chasing a massive 183-run target could not get going from the outset as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Ravi Bopara top scored for Kandy with 47 off 31 deliveries. For Colombo, Jeffrey Vandersay finished with impressive figures of 6/25 while Seekkuge Prasanna had 2/27.

Earlier after sent in to bat, Colombo posted 182/6 in their 20 overs with Kusal Perera making 58 off 38 balls.

Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva hit 40s.

For Kandy, Nimesh Vimukthi finished with 3/24.
