Sri Lanka Cricket says the player draft of the 3rd edition of the Lanka Premier League 2022 will be held tomorrow (5).
353 players, consisting of 180 overseas and 173 Sri Lankan players, first class, international, and former internationals, will feature in the draft which will be held virtually at 5pm, with the participation of the LPL Governance Committee, and Franchise Owners.
The draft will consist of 20 rounds, covering several player categories, such as International Ruby, International Sapphire, International Diamond ‘A’ and ‘B’ and International Platinum.
SLC said there will be a Sri Lanka ‘Gold Round’ focusing on selecting Sri Lanka’s young talent, below Under 23, with two players each for a team.
A squad will consist of 20 players, with 14 Sri Lankans and six overseas players.
SLC said a team can retain six players, including four Sri Lankans and two overseas players from the previous squad.
Franchisees also can directly sign two Sri Lankans and two internationals, whilst the rest of the players have to be picked at the player draft tomorrow.
The tournament will get underway on the 31st of July and will be played in Colombo and Hambantota.
