Sri Lanka’s Kumudu Priyanka Dissanayake finished ninth in the Women’s Long Jump-T47 event at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Japan today.
Dissanayake renewed her personal best by jumping 4.92m in her first attempt at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo this morning.
New Zealand’s Anna Grimaldi won the gold medal with a jump of 5.76m which is also a Paralympic record.
Aleksandra Moguchaia, representing the Russian Olympic committee and Kiara Rodriguez of Ecuador won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Meanwhile, Saman Subasinghe failed to qualify for the finals of the Men’s 400m-T47 this morning. Subasinghe finished heat two in fourth place with a timing of 51.08s.
Sri Lanka’s Sampath Bandara meanwhile was eliminated from the Men’s Individual Recurve-Open Archery event today.
He lost 6/2 to India’s Vivek Chikara in the 1/16 Elimination round at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field.
Meanwhile, Palitha Halgahawela will compete in the finals of the Men’s Shot Put-F63 event at 4.14pm tomorrow at the National Olympic Stadium.
