Australian pacer Kane Richardson has been ruled out of the One-Day International series against Sri Lanka with a serious hamstring injury.
He featured in the recently concluded Twenty20 International series which was won by Australia 2-1.
Captain Aaron Finch revealed that Richardson, who was a late addition to the ODI squad, played with the tendon injury during their third T20I defeat on Saturday.
The paceman suffered the injury in the warm-up but the Aussies did not realise the severity of it until he went for scans yesterday.
Richardson has flown home and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
Scott Boland has been brought into the ODI squad as cover.
Mitchell Starc, Sean Abbott and Mitchell Marsh also suffered injuries and will not feature during the first part of the ODI series.
