Kandy Warriors beat the Galle Gladiators by 5 wickets

The Kandy Warriors comfortably beat the Galle Gladiators by 5 wickets, in match 10 of the Lanka Premier League at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo this evening, recording their first win of the Tournament.

The spinners and batters both contributed despite losing a couple of early wickets.

The English pair of Tom Moores and Ravi Bopara ensured the Warriors didn’t slip up.

The Gladiators having won the toss managed 127 losing seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Opener Kusal Mendis top-scored with 44 while Samit Patel remained unbeaten on 36.

Kamindu Mendis was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3/25 while Shiraz Ahmed and Nimesh Vimukthi bagged two wickets each.

In response, the Kandy Warriors reached their target in 18.4 overs with Bopara hitting the winning boundary. Ravi

Bopara was also the top scorer for the side with 34 while Tom Moored contributed 28.

Samit Patel bagged two wickets while Mohammad Amir, Dhananjaya Lakshan, and Nuwan Thushara claimed a wicket apiece.
