Sri Lanka bundled India out for a paltry 225 in 43.1 overs in the rain-hit third and final One Day International of the series at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Spin twins Akila Dananjaya and Praveen Jayawickrama made short work of the inexperienced Indian middle order and tilted the game in favour of Sri Lanka.
Dananjaya finished with figures of 3/44 while Jayawickrama took three wickets conceding 59 runs.
For India opener Prithvi Shaw top scored with a run-a-ball 49 while debutant Sanju Samson chipped in with 46.
Earlier India won the toss and elected to bat first.
Following a lengthy rain delay during the Indian innings, the game was shortened to a 47-over contest.
