A 100-run stand between Wanindu Hasaranga and Pathum Nissanka propelled Sri Lanka to a respectable 171/7 in 20 overs against Ireland in the eighth match of the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
Sri Lanka after sent into bat lost three quick wickets and was reeling on 8/3 in 1.4 overs. Hasaranga then joined Nissanka to put on 123 runs in just 82 balls.
Hasaranga went onto to make 71 off 47 deliveries which included a six and 10 boundaries. Nissanka made 61 in 47 balls. Only Skipper Dasun Shanaka reached double figures among other batters.
For Ireland, Josh Little picked up 4/23 while Mark Adair finished with figures of 2 for 35.
Earlier in the evening, Irish skipper Andy Balbirnie won the toss and elected to field first.
