Cricket Australia has confirmed that assistant coach Andrew McDonald has been appointed as the interim head coach of the senior Australia men’s team.
The latest development came after Justin Langer decided to resign as the head coach.
Andrew McDonald has formerly worked as the head coach of the IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, and has also been part of the coaching staff for Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League.
His first assignment will be the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
Earlier today, Justin Langer resigned as head coach of the Australia men’s team.
The 51-year-old’s contract was expiring in June and Cricket Australia (CA) said he turned down a short-term extension.
He took over the role in 2018 following Australia’s ball-tampering scandal against South Africa, but leaves having won the T20 World Cup and The Ashes.
