COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Police have launched a special operation to nab drunk drivers across the country during the festive period.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said a large number of officers have been deployed for the island-wide operation.
SSP Nihal Thalduwa said additionally, for the protection of the public, officers have been deployed in civil and also intelligence officers.
He also requested motorists to exercise caution when driving.
The Police Media Spokesman said everyone must play their part to prevent injuries to people and loss of lives.
He said drunk driving and reckless driving have resulted in several motor accidents in the past and therefore Police officers will be on standby to nab motorists who violate motor traffic laws.
