The Ministry of Health has decided to implement a special programme to administer the third and fourth booster vaccinations against COVID-19 across the island over the next few weekends.
Accordingly, vaccinations will be administered over four weekends on the 17th and 24th of September and 1st and 8th of October at all Regional Medical Offices of Health and hospitals across the island.
The first and second booster doses for individuals above 20 years and the first and second booster doses for children between 12-19 years will be administered after confirming their previous vaccination status.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena informed relevant officials that every Medical Office of Health must organise a special vaccination campaign in at least three locations or three vaccination centres within the respective jurisdiction.
The vaccination drive will be open from 8am to 4pm.
The vaccination campaign is being held in addition to the regular COVID-19 vaccination services offered through the District Medical Officer of Health offices and hospitals on other weekdays, and all vaccination clinics will be conducted in accordance with COVID-19 vaccination guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
