COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A group of Sri Lanka Transport Board employees have demanded they be given the annual bonus before Saturday.
In a statement, the All Ceylon Transport Workers’ Union has said it requested the SLTB to take prompt measures to pay the annual bonus before the end of the year. The request comes as Minister of Bandula Gunawardena announced that no loss-making state entity should pay bonuses to its employees. A circular in this regard for state institutions has also been issued. The All Ceylon Transport Workers’ Union noted that the SLTB was established to provide service to the general public and therefore it is not a profit or loss-making institution. Accordingly, the union has demanded the authorities to provide the annual bonuses. The All Ceylon Transport Workers’ Union also claimed that as a result of the actions and policies of politicians, the SLTB had incurred massive losses.
