Former President Maithripala Sirisena says the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will not join the National Council.

Former President Parliamentarian Sirisena expressed his views to media after a discussion held at the party headquarters today (28).

The inaugural meeting of the National Council is due to be held tomorrow (29).

The meeting will get underway under the patronage of Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at 10.30 am.

The Speaker announced in Parliament on the 23rd of September the list of Parliamentarians that were nominated to the National Council which was established as per the proposal of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, consisting MPs from all respective political parties.
