Former President Maithripala Sirisena says the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has always represented the working class of the country.

Speaking to media after an event in Colombo today, Chairman of the SLFP Maithripala Sirisena said the party has one of the strongest trade union movements in Sri Lanka.

The SLFP Chairman said they have established a new unit to support the trade unions that represent the party.

Former President Sirisena said they are hoping to form a strong SLFP-led in future and will consider the inputs of trade unions when compiling national policies.
