The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment today contributed a sum of Rs.3 billion to the Treasury.
The money was handed over by Minister of Labour & Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara.
Minister Nanayakkara said the Rs.3 billion was from surplus made last year by the Bureau.
The Minister said the funds will be utilised to fund fuel requirements, medicinal requirements and Samurdi payments.
Minister Nanayakkara added that Rs.100 million will be handed over to the Apeksha Cancer Hospital while Rs.500 million will be contributed for local medical purchases.
He noted that the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau has contributed only Rs.3.8 billion in its history while this is the single largest contribution ever made.
