SLC Greys beat Greens by 1 run in Kandy

SLC Greys led by Dasun Shanaka claimed a narrow one run victory against SLC Greens in the opening game of the Sri Lanka Cricket Invitational Twenty20 League in Kandy this evening.

SLC Greys led by Dasun Shanaka claimed a narrow one run victory against SLC Greens in the opening game of the Sri Lanka Cricket Invitational Twenty20 League in Kandy this evening.

Shanaka won the toss and elected bat first at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and they went on to post 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Shanaka top scored 84 off 41 deliveries. SLC Greens was then on course to win the game after Kamindu Mendis and Pathum Nissanka notched up 102 runs for the third wicket. However, following the fall of Nissanka’s wicket, the Greys managed to restrict the scoring rate an secured a decisive win in the opening game of the tournament. Kamindu Mendis top scored with 74 off 48 balls while Nissanka scored 45 from 36 deliveries. For SLC Greys, Pulina Tharanga picked up 3/22. Meanwhile, Blues are taking on Reds in the second game of the series at the same venue.
