Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara charges that seeking the support of the International Monetary Fund will lead to Sri Lanka having to comply with conditions of the IMF and gradually succumbing to all conditions.
Minister Nanayakkara joining a media briefing today said Sri Lanka’s wellbeing will be compromised, state institutions will fall under the purview of private entities, expenditure on education, and health will be curtailed among several other conditions.
He claimed he will not be able to remain with the government under such circumstances adding that he will reach a decision on the best move forward.
Minister Nanayakkara noted writing a letter of resignation will take only a minute.
The Minister meanwhile said they have no decision to table a No-Confidence Motion against the government yet adding that they are deliberating future measures.
Minister Nanayakkara added the government has been formed around Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s party, adding today’s concerns are not related only to him but the entire government.
