The Sri Lanka national Twenty20 team will leave for Oman for two T20 games, ahead of its participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, which will be played in the UAE and Oman from the 17th October.
The team is due to leave for Oman on the 3rd of October. Sri Lanka Cricket said the two games will be worked off on the 7th and 9th of October and will provide the Lankan team preparation ground for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Following the two games against Oman, Sri Lanka will play two ICC-organized World Cup warm-up games, on the 12th and 14th October, before commencing the T20 World Cup Campaign.
Sri Lanka kicks off the T20 World Cup campaign against Namibia on the 18th October in Abu Dhabi and will play Ireland subsequently on the 20th of October.
The game against the Netherlands will be played on the 22nd of October.
SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said “We are looking to play many games as possible leading into the World Cup in similar conditions the team will experience in the UAE. The games against Oman and the 2 ICC practice games will allow us this opportunity”.
