The Government Medical Officers Association has called for attention to be directed at individuals travelling to Sri Lanka considering the rapid spread of the coronavirus in China and several other countries.

GMOA Media Spokesman Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said the COVID-19 Technical Committee must convene to reach decisions on a technical and scientific basis.

Dr. Wijesinghe said if COVID-19 begins spreading once again, the country battling many crisis at present, will not be able to bear its impact.

Meanwhile, Consultant Physician of the Infectious Diseases Hospital Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama said there is no truth to COVID-19 symptoms having altered adding that new variants have not emerged in the country either.

However, Dr. Wijewickrama said good health practices must be continued to prevent any possible infections.
