State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe says Sri Lanka is focused on implementing new tools for rapid economic reform, moving away from traditional methods.
The State Minister expressed his views during a meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General and Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Program and Regional Director of UNDP’s Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau Kanni Wignaraja at the Ministry of Finance yesterday (3).
State Minister Semasinghe engaged in extensive discussions with the UN official on International Monetary Fund approval, debt management and other reforms.
Semasinghe said the discussion also focused on potential areas for future support on economic development and financing from the UNDP.
The UN official meanwhile agreed to provide future support through the UNDP for economic growth and expressed willingness to provide technical assistance to improve capacity building at state institutions.
