The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has questioned the government on whether funds to uplift the farming community with or without fertiliser will be obtained through foreign aid.
Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Parliamentarian Kins Nelson said it is ridiculous to make such statements at a time when the government is facing a severe financial crisis.
MP Nelson said not only paddy farmers but the entire farming community is affected by the fertiliser crisis.
The Parliamentarian questioned the source of the funds which will be allocated to provide compensation for the farmers.
Furthermore, MP Nelson said party members will work towards protecting the farming community under a SJB-led government that will be formed in 2024, under the leadership of Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.
He questioned whether the present administration is attempting to provide compensation through loans obtained from the international community.
The MP said the opposition has solutions and alternatives to all prevailing issues.
He added the public has acknowledged the SJB as the leading force to protect the country’s citizens.
