Six suspects have been arrested on charges of digging for gold, buried during the war in the Oluthudawa reserve in Mannar.
The raid was carried out based on information received by the Mannar Police, who were assisted by the 54th Brigade in Mannar. A car, generator and tools used for excavation were seized by Police.
The suspects aged between 26 and 60 were revealed to be residents of Hettimulla, Kotiyakumbura, Panadura, Boralanda and Halpe areas.
The group will be produced before the Mannar Magistrate’s Court today.
