The JVP says the agreement signed in relation to the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant is a major concern at present.

Politburo member of the JVP Former Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti said if not for the revelation by JVP Leader  Anura Kumara Dissanayake, that an agreement was penned by the government and an American firm at 12:06am, the matter would not have been made known to the citizens.

He questioned as to what agreement was penned, as several agreements related to the Power Plant exist.

Handunnetti added agreements exist over gas plants being set up, gas pipelines being laid, storage facilities and vesting sections of the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant and the main agreement related to the purchase of gas.

He noted that the future is liquefied natural gas adding this process in the country will thereby be vested with an American firm.
